Our story

​

The idea of MTU Avastusmatkade started in 2014 on the seashore of Lahemaa, where our hiking group came to the realization that we want to give back to the world. We decided to do it in the area that is closest to our hearts - being active in nature and discovering new things in the open air. In the same year, we organized the first hike for an international group of Erasmus+ volunteers, and since 2015 we have been operating under the brand MTÜ Avastusmatkad. Today, our focus is on organizing entertaining hiking events with educational content for children and young people, but we also organize events for other interest groups such as companies and institutions. We offer:

• Day trips to Estonian nature

• Multi-day treks and camps

• Outdoor games

• Survival trainings

 

Continuous development is important to us, which is why at the beginning of each event we put emphasis on finding out the expectations of the participants and gathering feedback at the end of the event. Thanks to this, we are constantly ready to improve our skills and knowledge, try something new and share it with others through exciting outdoor activities. In order to harmonize skills, we organize regular internal training and cooperate closely with other youth associations, companies and non-profit organizations operating in Estonia and outside Estonia. Starting in 2023, we are contributing to the training of young people internationally by participating in Erasmus+ projects.

 

We are characterized by curiosity, a thirst for adventure and a positive attitude towards life. You can say that adventure is our nature.
