Avastusmatkad
Adventure. Safety. Experimentation.
In Avastusmatkad, we enjoy experimentation - this is why you will often hear something along the lines of "I doubt you can cross that ditch" or "did you try that new stove yet?". Having worked in Scandinavian companies we like to keep things safe and thus we only take calculated risks. And adventure is our nature.

Sven
is one of the authors behind NGO Avastusmatkad and has been with us from the start. He is a telecom engineer by education and works on developing future communication networks in the private sector. He is among the most experienced outdoor specialists of our group and has for sure the most expertise in water sports. His core strength is in being methodical when planning and running activities. A long time management board member, he is currently taking a break from administrative tasks and focusing on developing our educational methods. Sven is one of our main outdoor educators and is always looking to expand our toolbox. He is focused on achieving results and will help motivate others when extra energy is needed to reach our goals.

Anton
is a member of our management team and also one of the authors behind NGO Avastusmatkad. His educational background is in economics and he has worked in finance and HR departments of large companies during his professional career. Anton’s interest towards sustainability and innovation has brought him to his current employer, that is leading the journey towards a carbon neutral future in the Estonian energy sector. Anton has participated in a number of Erasmus+ projects abroad and thanks to that has the most extensive interntional network of our group. Anton’s core strength is attention to detail and discipline to deliver the planned outcomes. Because of that his main functions in the NGO are revolving around event planning, taking care of finances, internal communication and networking outside of the organization. As a certified outdoor instructor, Anton is one of our main internal training instructors focusing on knowledge transfers and learning methods development.

Karin
is one of our newest members and one of our most energetic thanks to her positive outlook on life. She has extensive experience with coordinating development projects in large organizations and feels at home in a corporate environment. Her recent career focus has enabled her to learn about sustainable development practices in a company that strives to replace all fossil fuel based materials with renewable alternatives. Karin’s main focus is running most of our outdoor activities and she is happy to accept training challenges. She is also one of the few of us who has both Facebook and Instagram, which gives her the superpower of speaking “teenage” fluently. Her core strength is in finding the balance between ambitious goals and realistic outcomes.

Maarjus
is a member of our management team and one of the founding members of Avastusmatkad. He is an engineer by education and works closely with both Estonian and international students in the Technical University of Tallinn. Maarjus has had most first aid and medical training out of all our members. His strength is in assessing any situation calmly and then taking required action with discipline and momentum. Maarjus is responsible for cooperation with educational institutions and internal trainings. He is our most quiet member and can calm down stressful situations with his tranquil composure.
